Gai jatra | Visit Nepal 2011
Gai Jatra The festival of “Gai Jatra”, the procession of cows, is generally celebrated in the Nepalese month of Bhadra (August-September). The festival of cows is one of the most popular festivals of Nepal. The whole complex of Gai Jatra festival has its roots in the ancient age when people feared and worshipped Yamaraj,”the god of death”. However, the ironical sessions synonymous with the Gai Jatra festival came into tradition in the medieval period of Nepal during the reign of Malla Kings. Hence, the present form of Gai Jatra is a happy blending of antiquity and medievalism.

According to the traditions since times immemorial, every family who has lost one relative during the past year must participate in a procession through the streets of Kathmandu leading a cow. If a cow is unavailable then a young boy dressed as a cow is considered a fair substitute. In Hinduism, a cow is regarded as the most venerated among all the domestic animals. It is believed that the cow, revered as a holy animal by Hindus, will help the deceased relative’s journey to heaven.
Recovery
In terms of historical evidences, once when King Pratap Malla lost his son, his wife, the queen remained dumbstruck. The king was very sad to see the condition of his beloved queen. The king, in spite of his several efforts, could not lessen the grief of his wife. By all means he wanted to see little smile on the lips of his sweetheart. He announced that someone who ever made the queen laugh would be rewarded adequately
Praise & Blame
During the festival of Gai Jatra, the cow procession was brought before the griefstricken queen. Then the participants began ridiculing and befooling the important people of the society. Finally when the social injustice and other evils were highlighted and attacked mercilessly, the queen could not stop smiling. The queen laughed, and Pratap Malla, the king ensued a tradition of including jokes, satires, mockery and lampoon in the Gai Jatra days.
After the procession is over, in the afternoon, nearly everyone takes part in another age-old tradition in which the participants dress up and wear masks. The occasion is filled with songs, jokes, mockery and humour of every kind become the order of the day until late evening. Hence, Gai Jatra is a healthy festival which enables the people to accept the reality of death and to prepare oneself for the life after death. According to Hinduism,”whatever a man does in his life is a preparation to lead a good life, after death”.
E-books as Your Best Asset
Thinking of starting a business online? Not sure what type of product to sell or to promote? Well, I was just reading an amazing E-book that shared some very simple concepts that anyone can implement, and they start with having one thing, an E-book.
Information is constantly being distributed and passed around for free on the internet. One can read free internet articles on how to trade stocks, or how to improve your golf swing, but those articles don’t always give you a step by step guide to learn all the tricks.
People are now relying on information that will help guide them in doing a highly specialized trade, like trading stocks, repairing vintage automobiles, or losing weight. There are many paper books available that will teach people how to do these things, but much of the time, people are going to the internet to find solutions and find current information on specialized trades.
Let’s look at some reasons why an E-book can be a great asset:
1.An E-book is digital, and can be kept online at a website, not at a warehouse.
2.It can only be downloaded from a website 24/7 and as it is totally secure, it cannot be passed around the internet as a free un-secure article.
3.One has to buy an E-book to read it. It can only be read after it is paid for.
4.Once an E-book is created an E-book, it is forever available.
5.After writing the E-book, the work is done, and it can constantly make money for you. Of course, the more it is kept updated, and the more E-books one has, the more profit potential there is.
6.When an E-book is sold, the customer does not have to wait for it. It’s delivered to them instantly, and they can conveniently store it on their computer or laptop, so it is available to them more easily.
7.Paper Books take about a year to get published and cost a lot of money in printing, postage and handling. E-books have no publishing cost, and can be delivered through the internet saving time and money on postage and handling.
8.There are very simple and sophisticated internet marketing tools to drive traffic to ones website for people to buy the E-books.
9.E-books can always be revised and kept updated as fast as one can create new content. This makes E-books more current than a normal paperback.
10.An E-book can be bought forever. This gives it an unlimited profit potential.
So, think about spending some extra time and compile a 30-100 page E-book, that is high quality, and gives the customer great value. The time spent doing this can create a steady income stream forever. When we start thinking about moving our mindset from trading our time for money, to having our assets work for us, we start to shift from having to always work for our money, to letting our E-books work for us.
About Online Gaming
Online gaming, this is also referred to as Internet Gaming or Electronic Gaming. It is a gathering of players with a common game using a local area network (LAN) or even WAN where they could be on the same settings. The players seem to be in a real situation that they use their mouse or keypads to move in the monitor, their virtual world.
Multiplayer games could be traced back in 1972 where a joint project by the Control Data Corporation and University of Illinois named PLATO enabled the university students’ network with other terminals for computer-aided learning and education. Because of the students’ creativity, they integrated games that started the world of multiplayer gaming.
Sometime in 1978, the Multi-User Dungeon (MUD) spawned a field of network-based games that enable players on the network to explore and interact MUD game world. This opens the way for the Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Life Consuming Game (MMORPG) with its concept of shared world. After which, in 1984 MAD appeared that was considered as the first game connected worldwide, but MAD lasted only for two years. Simultaneous to the usage of MUD and MAD on BITNET, Maze War, a game which was originated from NASA in 1973 fueled the development of the so called server-host gaming.
Progress and developments since then have been fast and furious, and online games as they now were beyond imagination just 10 years ago. It’s really been a snowball effect, that started with the introduction of Flash and Java Script.
Those two languages opened up the Internet to lots of new people, and as more people began to use the Internet, the more companies set about improving the online experience in terms of technology and connection speeds, so as to meet the demands of the ever increasing online market.
Many of the quality games available over the internet can be downloaded to the personal computers for free or very low costs.
It even saves the additional trip of going to the stores to purchase the games or the hassle of waiting to receive the games via mail. One can simply search the feedback and strategies of the game online, to get a gist of the game and start playing it as soon as it downloads on the computer system.
Why Online Gaming Companies Fail
After launching an online gaming portal there is a thin line that separates success and failure. While some sites take off as soon as they are launched, others struggle to draw the crowds.
Corrective steps need to be taken if there are signs of less player activity within the first couple of months. Within that time the marketing efforts that you have put must start to show the desired effect. The effective steps can be adopting a new strategy or even changing your marketing agency
Since most of the online games offer the built-in option of multi players, members of the family and siblings can enjoy memorable moments together.
Games are an easier way to learn life skills than having the actual experience in real life. Far less traumatic and the person receiving the lesson has a much better chance of coming away from the experience better off and with a sense of self-confidence that isn’t easily gained. Learning life skills via a fun online game site is much cheaper and less traumatic for all concerned.
