The traditional cultural “Kartik Naach” or dance initiated during the rule of the then Malla King Siddhinara Singh should be carried out for a month in order to protect, preserve and promote it, say locals here.
The dance believed to carry a 360 years old history is the longest …art festival in the country which begins after establishing the Natyeswar from hills in Baghdwar, Shivapur in Saugal of Lalitpur.
The then King Siddhinara Singh Malla has first initiated the dance for eight days in 1697 Bikram Year for the welfare of the country and people. It is a mixture of singing, playing of musical instruments and dancing and follows ancient, religious, historical and folk traditions.
